This listing is for a FABULOUS 19th Century American Baltimore area Sterling Silver over-sized sauce/gravy boat with under tray.
This gorgeous set has a deep hand chased design of roses with foliage that encompass the entire body of the sauce boat and all but a small oval center of the tray where the sauce boat sits. Both pieces have an unusual and elaborate deeply engraved flower and scroll border.
The silver has great original patina and exquisite details.
Marked "Hand Chased, Sterling" this silver set was hand made in a hand chased technique by one of the 19th Century Baltimore area silversmiths with great detail and is larger and heavier than the Repousse pieces carrying the Stieff and Kirk names.
Sauce boat measures 6" high, 9" long and 4 1/4" wide. Weighs 480 grams.
Oval tray measures 1" high at ends, 10" long and 6" wide. Weighs 330 grams. Combined weight
is 810 grams or 26.01 oz. T.
Both pieces are in excellent Estate
condition with no damage or noted flaws although the interior bottom of the sauce boat and flat center of the tray do reflect minor expected signs of normal wear considering these pieces are well over 100 years old. Please view all photos.
